After reaching Carcross, Yukon Territory, we transferred from the bus to the train and eventually had to show our passports as we crossed in the US to get to Skagway, Alaska. The were numerous points made about the historical route the train was taking, the bridges it crossed and the foot path of the Yukon gold rush stampeders it paralleled in most areas. The first photo shows how closely we traveled to the cliffs and rocks on one side, and the next three show the creek crossings and bridges and ravines we passed through the valley. Imagine covering that area without the train. The last is of "tormented valley" which is an area upheaveal of rocks across the entire valley. One of nature's natural catastrophies. We were riding in the third rail car from the end of the train and could get a good view of the first part of the train as it twisted and wound its way along the valleys and up the mountains.
