The trail up was through rugged heavy forest, and looking back down the trail was enlightening. We did find some grassy pockets for the horses to rest and graze in. The summit above the treeline was pretty rocky and barren and the tall heavy brush on the back side of the mountain could get you lost with its winding trails. We got to trot and lope some on the lower slopes headed for the ranch and had one creek crossing. None of the other 4 rides could compare to this one.
