Skagway, Alaska

The first picture here was from the train where you can see the harbor in the distance and also in the lower center is the road that we will take coming back on the bus. Skagway was surprising. I expected a much larger, modern, bustling town, but it was really very small and bustling only with tourists. The yellow bus is city transportation and the third shot is main street. We could see the large cruise ships in the harbor, but didn't have time to really get a look at the harbor. We had only 2 hours in Skagway and part of that was to have lunch, exchange money at the bank and find the smoked salmon Ken was looking for. We would have to hike quite a ways to the harbor. Ken is waiting (patiently?) in front of two of the local shops. We did get a little shopping done. There was one other means of transportation that we just didn't have time for. The two ladies both had their carts and Norwegian horses to pull them. That would have been great fun.
