Tues., June 2
Left Houston, Sunday, May 31, at 6:00 AM as scheduled. Arrived at Lake Texoma, Texas Oklahoma border at 2:00 pm. The Alberta Creek "Resort" didn't live up to its image due to the lake being 6 feet above normal level. Trailer pad was washed out with ruts, ramps to docks were flooded, floating Marina Cafe closed and inaccessible, and we lost electric service Monday morning. Sooooo, we left with extra days and headed for Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota.
Monday, drove through Oklahoma, Kansas and across Nebraska, spending the night in North Platte. Saw beautiful farmlands and fields through Kansas and miles and miles of alfalfa, corn and wheat waving in the wind. It really does. This trip consisted of observing Canadian geese, pheasants, more deer than we could count and surviving very scary loud rain/hailstorm as we crossed through the cold front coming down. No place to hide from it on the flat plains and interstate. Luckily no damage to truck or trailer.
