June 2, Tues., evening

Arrived in Custer, South Dakota at the Broken Arrow RV (and horse camping) campground, (Where is Chica when I need her??) overlooking the Black Hills mountains of South Dakota. En route from North Platte, Nebraska, we encountered antelope, buffalo, wild turkeys, prairie dogs, mule deer, narrowly missed a white tail deer and its friends. We are experiencing electrical difficulties with the trailer and will have to call in an electrician to locate the problem. It may be the same problem we had at home and at Lake Texoma. However, we still have battery lights, gas powered refrigerator and heater and our small generator. No need for the air conditioner. Temperature at 5:45 pm is 44 degrees (that's Fahrenheit). It is wonderful. People here are complaining. We met a couple from Iowa who are very disheartened with the cold and are looking for summer. It was a beautiful drive through amazing rock formations getting here. Reminds us of New Mexico, north of Santa Fe. Looking forward to exploring the area the next few days.
